Flood

If you don't know, the North Platte river is past flood stage and rising. Problem.........my dearest Grandpa lives on the ground that is being eaten by river right now. Growing up the river ran across the back acres of the 40 acre plot and as of today the water was up to the fence separating the pasture and the yard.

So we...well OK my family...not I (I was too late)....Filled hundreds of sand bags in an effort to prepare for the next foot of water that is projected to come in the next few days.

I really have tried to write about this whole event for the past hour and I'm just getting wordy and weepy so I'm just going to stop and show you the pictures.

Here's the facts:
-Water is running through peoples homes not even 1/2 mile away from grandpa's house
-Water is up to his lawn
-Cody park (a major park in North Platte) has 4ft walls built blocking the river
-The water is 1 1/2 feet higher then it has ever been in history
-Flood stage is 6 ft
-Water level as of today is 8.4 ft
-Water could rise to 11ft
-Today is my sweet sweet dad's birthday!

My WONDERFUL grandpa has been through a lot this year already.
 The Birthday boy!

I love this man! It melts my heart to hear him ask Jaxon how much he loves him and jaxon says "a Big-a-bunch!"

 Cody parks wall of sand

This is the river bridge those little nobs coming up out of the water are the posts that keep people from driving on the grass.

If you look close the trees are a good 2 ft in the water......
So sorry I have words for you all. I really can't put my feelings into words. Thank goodness for pictures!

While talking to my mom she had a great statement......When you are facing trials and struggles it in an opportunity to turn to God and grow closer to Him. So she said she was going to cling to Him. I say as long as I'm clinging I won't drowned!!!
